All year we have been looking forward to the big fireworks display that goes on in Cochem. It is a fireworks war between the Mosel river and the castle. I am not sure of the exact historical reference, but it is a beautiful sight! It has to do with the representation of the French fighting with the Germans over the territory and then the French lighting the castle on fire, so at the end of the fireworks display the castle is lit up in red to symbolize the burning. This may all sound familiar since we went last year too, but Allan got to go this year so it was all the more better! Any who, Matthew is very sensitive to loud sounds so we have been avoiding all other fireworks displays to save up for this one night. We told all of our friends not to mention the "F" word b/c Matthew starts to freak out since he still remembers it from last year! We did come a little more prepared this year though, and Allan had some head phones for the kids from when he is shooting so it blocked a lot of the noise. Matthew got tense the first few go 'rounds, but then loved it and kept saying how cool it was. Zachary on the other hand buried his head in Allan as I think that all the bright lights made him a little nervous! It was great though and well worth it and I can't wait to go again next year!!
