Back in November we got a new addition to our family. Molly is a precious little yellow lab that we adopted from a rescue shelter. She has added a lot of life to our household, as if we didn't have enough of that already ;) She had some health problems starting out, but she is doing much now and she really is a great puppy. She is almost 6 months old and we just adore her, especially the boys.
For Thanksgiving my mom came to visit us in our new house. We had a great time with her and it was my first time to ever Thanksgiving dinner by myself. It turned out good so I was quite proud of myself =)
My mom's visit was the first of a slew of visitors to come to our house. Next up was Chase and Lauren. They flew in on my birthday so that was a fantastic birthday gift and to make it even better my neighbor watched the boys for us so that we could all go out dinner. We had a nice relaxing week with them. We played football outside with the boys, went to pick out our Christmas tree, and exchanged Christmas gifts. We (the adults) also played lots of Wii and board games, our favorite things to do. There is always competition in this house =)
We went to a Christmas tree farm where we pick out our own tree and then cut it down. Lauren picked out the winning tree this year and it was gorgeous!
Every year the boys get an ornament that reflects whatever interest they have that year, so, this year Matthew got a dinosaur ornament and Zachary got an alien one.
The tree took up quite a lot of room in our house. It always looks smaller when in a large field with other trees. Maybe one year we will learn =)
A few days after Chase and Lauren left Matthew had his school's holiday performance. He was one of the little elves and had a speaking part that we had been practicing for a few weeks. He did a great job and was the cutest little elf there!
Do you see him??
There he is!
A few days later my good friend Heather and her children Garrett (6) and Hadley (5) came to visit us all the way from San Antonio. Heather and I had a good visit even though the children did a whole lot of arguing and not listening. What else can you expect from 4 kids though?! On their first full day here we all went to Matthew's school for his Christmas party.
He was a lucky boy to have his friends there!
On their way back to the airport we made a stop by the T-Rex Cafe.
The day after Heather left my dad came in to town. See...I told you that we had a lot of company ;) It was a great visit with him. He was able to help us out with some things around the house and also bought us the best Christmas present of all...a new water heater!! No more cold showers! YAY!! He even installed it for us too. Thanks daddy!
Zachary helping PaPa "make deer."
On Christmas Eve Allan had to work so my dad and I went to church with the boys. They had been practicing for a few weeks and were all dressed up for their choir debut! They did a great job and of course they looked so very handsome!
The boys wrote on their plate for Santa.
PaPa read, "Twas the night before Christmas."
I took the boys to the "small mall" a few weeks before Christmas where they got to do some shopping by themselves. They both got some money to buy mommy and daddy presents and here is Matthew with his presents.
Zachary with his gifts that he got us!
We got a huge amount of snow the night before Christmas. It was the first "White Christmas" that we have had so it was a nice surprise to wake up to!
Our yearly official Christmas photo!
Next up was New Year's Eve. To celebrate Allan and I took the boys to the movies to see "Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel" and then out to a nice dinner. After dinner we came home, put on our pj's and lit the fireplace and made some smores for our dessert. The boys were tucked in bed by 9 and Allan and I stayed up and watched TV. A very relaxed NYE!
Well that takes us up to the end of 2009. Up next....2010! 2009 was an eventful year that took us many different places. We vactioned to Paris and Brussels and made the move from Germany to Missouri. We bought our first house, my little brother got married, Matthew started kindergarten and we got a new dog. I am sure that this coming year will have a lot to offer, I just hope that it does not involve any moving ;) I hope that you all have a wonderful and blessed 2010!!
