On Saturday we went to the Wittlich (pronounced Vittlich) pig fest. The story goes like this... many, many moons ago the city was gated to keep the enemies out and the poor guy that was on gate watch that night lost the key to the gate. So he replaced the key with a carrot and a hungry pig came along and ate the carrot thus opening the gate. So the enemies tore through the ciey destroying it. So those that were left went out and killed all the pigs so now every year there is the Wittlich pig fest complete with the big roasting pigs! We did actually eat some and it was pretty good! Not as good as the wine and the beer though =) Only in Germany can you walk around with bottles of beer and wine and not get dirty looks! We had a great time! Especially Matthew as he got to ride some of the carnival rides!
Here is a video of Matthew on the way there. He was pretty hyper as we had just left the store where he got 2 chocolate chip cookies and then had a huge bottle of powerade!
